Dispatch exposes idol groups being pressured into performing following '2023 World Scout Jamboree' Blunders

The 'K-Pop Super Live' is a contingency plan of the Jamboree Organization Committee to redeem itself after horrible failures during this year's World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. The committee's plan is to turn around the nightmare of this year's Jamboree festival into a memorable K-pop event.

The World Scout Jamboree is a scouting celebration of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. It is a global event attended by tens and thousands of Scouts from all over the world. At the event, scouts, between the ages of 14 to 17, gather together to celebrate and swap badges.

This year, approximately 40,000 teenage scouts gathered in South Korea for the first global event since 2019. As much as this is the first global gathering of scouts since the pandemic, representatives from 155 countries made their way to South Korea with much anticipation and excitement.

Since South Korea has a great history of hosting the most prominent global events, such as the Summer and Winter Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, there were no doubts of failure in hosting the 25th World Scout Jamboree this year.

Unfortunately, the event faced immense challenges - starting with the heat wave that hit the country, to the overflowing trash cans, bug-infested camping fields, and unsanitary bathroom conditions. The event ended up being a national embarrassment, with hundreds of scouts withdrawing from the event and many falling sick due to the heatwaves. Some people in the media were comparing the Jamboree to the infamous 'Fyre Festival.'

In a bid to recover from the embarrassment of the failure of the global event hosted by the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, top entertainment agencies are now under pressure. Leading K-pop idols are seemingly being urged to grace the stage at the 'K-pop Super Live' concert for the 2023 World Scout Jamboree.

According to Dispatch, many entertainment companies are being pressured and forced to change artists' schedules to perform at the event. Additionally, it has been reported that these entertainment companies are supplying the event with K-pop merchandise to appease the disappointed Scouts.

Dispatch reported, "HYBE will be sending BTS merchandise due to the request made by the Jamboree Organization Committee. It is known that the committee is gathering 45,000 K-pop goods."

The news media outlet also interviewed various entertainment agencies in regard to artists' attendance at the Jamboree event. One agency replied, "We don't have the power to reject a national event. We can only change our schedules to attend."

However, that is not an easy task, especially for K-pop artists who are currently promoting. With fan meetings, fan sign events, interviews, photoshoots, content filming, live streaming, concerts, and album promotions already set in place, it is nearly impossible to move even one event in an already packed schedule.

Unfortunately, it seems that the Jamboree Organization Committee has no consideration for these entertainment agencies and artists. Already, the performance venue for the 'K-pop Super Live' concert for the 2023 World Scout Jamboree has changed twice, and even the date of the concert changed twice.

One entertainment agency official complained, "We canceled all our artists' schedules for Sunday (August 6) but then they changed the date suddenly to the 11th (Friday). Now, we're in the process of fixing our schedules for Friday."

Another official explained, "Our artists put in a lot of hard work and effort to create one album. If they change the event location twice and the date twice, then our work schedules get messed up."

Additionally, Dispatch revealed that certain agencies are concerned as there is no talk of payment that will be given to K-pop artists performing at the event. An official from Entertainment Agency D shared, "It costs more than 10 million KRW (7,591 USD) for hair and makeup for idols, but there is no mention of guarantees or payment, so it's hard for us to even form a team of staff (for the Jamboree event)."

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the 2023 World Scout Jamboree will be concluded with an organized K-pop concert.

K-pop artists will be gathering in Sangam-dong on the morning of August 11. However, the concert schedule or cue sheet have not yet been released. These artists must check the order of performance on the day; when they arrive at the location, they must do a dry rehearsal and be on standby.
