The Netflix original 'Weak Hero Class 2' has captivated viewers worldwide, achieving the impressive feat of ranking No. 2 on the global TV show charts just one day after its release.
The new season set a new standard for school action dramas. The series once again proved the global power of K-content, breaking down borders and cultural barriers.
According to the OTT ranking site FlixPatrol, 'Weak Hero Class 2,' which premiered on April 25, scored 708 points by April 26, climbing to No. 2 on the global chart within just 24 hours. The show entered the rankings in 91 out of 93 countries where Netflix is available. Notably, by April 27, it maintained its No. 2 global position for a second consecutive day and secured the No. 1 spot in 32 countries, an increase of 10 countries compared to the previous day.

The drama gained widespread popularity across diverse regions, including Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Peru, Paraguay, Mexico, and Malaysia. What is particularly noteworthy is that it debuted at No. 7 on the U.K. chart, a market it hadn’t entered with its first season.
Its performance in English-speaking countries is also impressive. It ranked No. 3 in the U.S., No. 5 in Australia, No. 7 in Canada, and No. 4 in New Zealand, all major markets for Netflix content production.
'Weak Hero Class 2' follows Yeon Si Eun (played by Park Ji Hoon), a model student who transfers to Eunjang High School burdened by the trauma of failing to protect a friend. There, he faces even greater violence, fighting a desperate battle for survival and personal growth. Park Ji Hoon reprises his leading role from Season 1, and the new season welcomes fresh faces including Ryeoun (as Park Hoo Min), Choi Min Young (as Seo Jun Tae), Lee Min Jae (as Go Hyun Tak), Yoo Su Bin (as Choi Hyo Man), Bae Na Ra (as Na Baek Jin), and Lee Jun Young (as Geum Sung Je).

Actor Jo Jung Suk also made a special appearance as the villain "Boss Choi," surprising viewers. Portraying the manager of the top delinquent group and the series' ultimate villain, Jo Jung Suk left a powerful impression. His character’s intimidating presence, especially when issuing a chilling warning, "If I have to come back again, you're dead," captivated audiences.
Park Ji Hoon, as the central character Yeon Si Eun, has been praised for delivering deep emotions through his nuanced performance, once again achieving a career-defining role. Meanwhile, Bae Na Ra, playing the rival Na Baek Jin, intensified the drama with his powerful charisma.
The show has also been met with enthusiastic reactions from overseas critics and viewers. On the global content rating site IMDb, it currently holds an impressive 8.4 rating. One international viewer commented, "I was left speechless after watching 'Weak Hero Class 2.' We absolutely need a Season 3. It perfectly captures both intense action and outstanding storytelling, making it an unforgettable experience."
The UK review site Ready Steady Cut noted, "While this season’s characters are fun and diverse, they lack the same authenticity of the Season 1 trio," but added, "Thanks to solid action scenes and compelling internal conflict for the lead character, Season 2 remains a highly enjoyable and addictive watch."
Korean viewers are equally enthusiastic, with comments like, "Yeon Si Eun and Geum Sung Je dominated Season 2," "Season 3 is a must," "Season 1 was amazing but Season 2 proves the show is still top-notch," "The actors’ performances are insanely good," "The casting director deserves an award," and "I watched it all at once. Please give us Season 3 ASAP."
Previously, Netflix re-released Weak Hero Class 1, originally a Wavve original, on March 25, 2024. After moving to Netflix, it soared to No. 2 globally within just five days and stayed in the Global Top 10 (non-English TV series) for four consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, lead actor Park Ji Hoon will next meet audiences through his upcoming movie 'The Man Who Lives with the King' (working title), and Bae Na Ra will showcase a new transformation in the Genie TV original drama 'Tastefully Yours,' premiering on May 12.
As 'Weak Hero Class 2' continues to draw explosive reactions, expectations are high for how far it will elevate K-content’s global standing in the months to come.
