A hit Korean drama that once led the charge on Wavve is now set to make waves on Netflix, capturing widespread attention as it premiered globally today on April 25. 'Weak Hero Class 2' has officially dropped all eight episodes on Netflix.
According to a viewer report released on April 24 by Consumer Insight, 'Weak Hero Class 2' ranked first for two consecutive weeks among upcoming releases, scoring a 49% viewer awareness of its premiere and a 27% rate for viewers intending to watch the series on its premiere. intention rate a week before launch. It outpaced other anticipated shows like Netflix’s 'Tangeum' and Genie TV’s 'Tastefully Yours.'
Originally a Wavve exclusive, 'Weak Hero' transitioned to Netflix, where Season 1 premiered globally last month. Despite being a three-year-old production, it recorded 6.7 million views within just five days, ranking second in Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English TV). It even claimed the No. 1 spot in Thailand and Malaysia, and No. 2 in Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines, proving its popularity across Asia.

When first released in 2022, 'Weak Hero Class 1' became a domestic hit, ranking No. 1 for driving paid Wavve subscriptions and topping drama/series buzz rankings for four consecutive weeks. What began as a project led by rookie actors and a first-time director turned into a breakout hit, thanks to its strong storytelling and direction.
The platform change reportedly stemmed from Wavve’s financial struggles. Though plans for Season 2 began immediately after Season 1’s success, Wavve’s budget cuts for original content led the production to Netflix.
'Weak Hero Class 2' follows model student Yeon Si Eun (played by Park Ji Hoon), who transfers to Eunjang High carrying the trauma of having failed to protect a friend. Determined not to lose anyone again, he confronts even greater violence. While Season 1 focused on Si Eun breaking out of his shell and forming friendships, Season 2 highlights the theme of reconciliation.
Director Yoo Soo Min explained, “Reconciliation isn’t just with others. It’s also with oneself and with the world. I wanted to portray Yeon Si Eun taking a step forward through this emotional journey.”
Season 2 also amps up the visual style. Yoo Soo Min said, “We paid extra attention to the visuals this time, aiming for a more distinctly genre-driven tone.”
The series, which introduced rising stars like Park Ji Hoon, Choi Hyun Wook, and Hong Kyung in Season 1, continues to showcase fresh talent in Season 2 with Ryeoun, Choi Min Young, and Lee Min Jae joining the cast. Yoo Soo Bin returns as Choi Hyo Man, who clashed with Si Eun at the end of Season 1, and a new antagonist played by Bae Na Ra enters the scene. Lee Jun Young will also make a special appearance.

At a recent press event, Park Ji Hoon said, “I tried to portray deeper emotions this time. Compared to Season 1, I focused more on conveying desperation through my eyes.” He added, “I hope viewers will look forward to the new friends Si Eun makes and the challenges he faces.”
Director Yoo praised Park, saying, “His body and soul still remembered Yeon Si Eun. He helped me solve many directing dilemmas. From start to finish, he embodied the character. Playing the lead for two full seasons is no easy feat; he must’ve been the loneliest person on set, yet he quietly endured and gave it his all. I’m grateful.”
Netflix’s strategic re-release of Season 1 proved especially effective for global viewers. With K-school dramas gaining traction on Netflix, 'Weak Hero' felt like a seamless continuation for many international fans, barely a month apart. This momentum is expected to positively influence the performance of Season 2.
All eyes are on whether 'Weak Hero 2,' now armed with the global reach of Netflix, can stage another rebellion, this time on the world stage.
