NewJeans and the popular instant noodle brand Indomie are having a pop-up store for the brand's Mie Goreng instant noodles.
On April 25, a NewJeans fan account with a substantial following uploaded an announcement for the new pop-up store. According to the announcement, the store will be open from May 1 to May 13 at a store located in front of Exit 3 of Seongsu Station in Seoul.
The page explained, "We kindly ask for the participation of many Bunnies! At the pop-up store, you can purchase a limited set that includes 20 individual packs of Mi Goreng ramen along with 7 limited edition postcards (front: photocard/back: simple postcard style). Online purchases will also be available starting May 1 through a purchase link."
The latest news on Indomie pop-up stores has many netizens confused, as the announcement was made through a fan account. Additionally, many are questioning the authenticity of the event due to the group's ongoing feud with their label, ADOR.
"It's a bit suspicious how a fan account is collecting personal information for an event."
"All of this is very contradictory."
"A fan account with a lot of followers...Is this not a fan account?"
"What is this...?"
"Is a fan account allowed to post something like this? Does HYBE know?"
"Wouldn't there be legal issues for a fan account to collect personal information under the pretense of an event. This isn't even an official Indomie account."
"Is this for real?"
"What is this 'Team Bunnies'?"
"I'm not curious about Min or NewJeans, but now I'm curious about this fan account."
"Is this even allowed?"
"Why is a fan account announcing this?"
"...This is legendary... A fan account announcing a pop-up store event."
Meanwhile, NewJeans were selected as ambassadors for the popular Indonesian instant noodles last year. On October 31, Indomie appointed popular group NewJeans as brand ambassadors and launched three varieties in the “Korean Ramyeon” series. However, the instant noodle brand faced trademark issues using the word "Ramyeon."
