The second season of the popular Netflix survival competition show 'Physical: 100' is returning after full preparations.
On August 9, the film set for 'Physical: 100' season 2 was revealed, and a press conference was held at the KINTEX exhibition hall in Ilsan. On this day, the first super-large set, where the contestants will face quests and challenges that require intense mental and physical power, was revealed.
Producer Jang Ho Ki, along with Season 1 contestants Jang Eun Sil and Jo Jin Hy,ung attended the press conference to talk about various topics.
On this day, producer Jang Ho Ki explained, "Thanks to the interest and support of the viewers, we were able to return with a second Season. I want to thank them for their interest and support."
He also revealed that Season 2 would be more focused on modern construction, in contrast to the Roman Greek mythology theme in Season 1.
The producer shared, "I had the objective that the first and second seasons should be clearly different. I thought I needed to make a completely different theme. I focused more on modern construction this time. During the 1950s and 60s, we as mankind had to be more fiercely competitive to survive. So I planned the motif around the times of mankind."
It has been revealed that the production team put in more time to prepare for the second season on a larger scale. Additionally, participants were chosen more thoroughly with the public's opinion in mind. The production team received applications and met with the participants beforehand.
Producer Jang shared, "It was necessary to check because the participants might find themselves in unintentional difficulties. Also, we are making our utmost efforts to avoid infringing on the human rights of the participants. I think there won't be the same issues (with the contestants) in Season 2."
Regarding the gender controversy of mixing female and male contestants for the game of stealing the ball in Season 1, Producer Jang shared, "The purpose of our program is to explore what the most perfect physique is. So, it would be prejudiced to divide the genders in the first place. We informed the participants that there will be competition between different genders and we asked only those who agreed to participate." He added, "Rather than approaching the game saying 'because you're a female, the male can only use a part of his strength,' we decided to focus on the basic theme of the show. Also, we focused on certain risks that can arise due to elements or certain characteristics of the participants. We approached the games so we can proceed in the safest way."
