Actor Kim Soo Hyun, who has recently been embroiled in a personal controversy, is now facing lawsuits from advertisers.
According to legal sources on April 28th KST, two companies, referred to as A and B, which had advertising contracts with Kim Soo Hyun, filed lawsuits against both Kim Soo Hyun and his agency GOLDMEDALIST. They are seeking the return of modeling fees and damages.
The combined amount claimed by the two companies reportedly exceeds 3 billion KRW(~2 million USD).
In addition to these two companies, other advertisers are also expected to join the legal battle.
Company C is also considering filing a lawsuit against Kim Soo Hyun, citing a breach of trust as grounds for terminating their advertising contract and seeking either the return of modeling fees or penalties.
Entertainment lawyer Park Sung Woo from Woori Law Firm explained, “It is known within the industry that Kim Soo Hyun signed advertising contracts with about 15 brands, with each domestic contract reportedly valued at around 1 to 1.2 billion KRW.”
He added, “Advertisers usually try to avoid being the first to publicly sue a model. However, once news of a lawsuit emerges, it is likely that more advertisers will follow.”
Based on these figures, the total amount involved in the lawsuits could potentially exceed 10 billion KRW.
