'The Thieves' has set a box office record and has become the most watched Korean movie of all-time.
The movie set an all-time Korean movie record of 13,020,393 admissions in 70 days, breaking the previous record of 'The Host' set in 2006, with 13,019,740 admissions in 106 days. 'The Thieves' had already proved to be a strong force in the movie industry, breaking 5,000,000 admissions in 10 days and breaking 10,000,000 admissions in 22 days. Even after 70 days, there are still 76 theaters that are screening the movie.
Currently, 'The Thieves' has made 93,561,965,000 KRW (approximately $84 million USD), ahead of 'The Host' with 78.5 billion KRW (approximately $70 million USD), and 'Haeundae' with 81.9 billion KRW (approximately $73 million USD).
'The Thieves' has a great chance of breaking the all-time record of 13.3 million admissions set by 'Avatar'.
