Was The “Rosy” Lesbian Concept A Queerbait?

As previously seen on allkpop.com (https://www.allkpop.com/articl...) we were introduced to the concept of “Rosy” by LOONA’s Olivia Hye and Go Won featuring HeeJin. The officially released details about the “Rosy” collaboration were (quote on quote):

Rosy is a song that talks the beautiful yet thorny emotions between 2 girls that draws them like a compass but wrecking them simultaneously without a place to escape to, in which they are being kind but chic, friendly but not close, have feelings for each other but finds it annoying to date each other".

Fans all over the world, especially the ones who are a part of the LGBT community got very happy and excited, but unfortunately there was a sudden change. The details about “Rosy” were originally first announced in the description of the MV of the song “Egoist” (Olivia Hye’s solo debut song). Unexpectedly, the description details about “Rosy” were changed to:

"Go Won and Olivia Hye's duet 'Rosy' captures the pretty but edgy unpredictable emotions of modern girls who are nice but chic, kind but naughty, or interested but not enough to go out with someone".

Generally speaking- the song remains the same. But I personally see where the frustration comes from. It could be easily seen as a “queerbait” that was later changed to something more “appropriate” for the strict Korean society after receiving enough attention from queer audiences. At the end of the day - songs, MVs and lyrics overall could be interpreted however one wants to, but finally seeing queer representation in a conservative industry like the Korean music market and afterwards technically getting rid of it is in a way disrespectful. What do you think?

It still a small step for a korean girl group to sing something like that. Little by little is better than nothing. But your point, it's a good point. It shouldnt be changed and they should keep it that way to support LGBT people. But I think LOONA is not queerbaiting, becuase Heart Attack was clearly a LGBT concept without any type of restriction. They said "Chuu is going to be lesbo to Yves, okay?" all they way hahaha
