Singer Younha has tied the knot with popular science YouTuber Science Cookie (Lee Hyo Jong).
According to a report by SPOTV News on the 31st, Younha held a private wedding ceremony on the afternoon of the 30th at a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. Her husband, Science Cookie, is a well-known science content creator with over 440,000 subscribers on YouTube.
A former physics teacher, Science Cookie is widely recognized for his accessible and entertaining videos on complex scientific concepts such as quantum mechanics and relativity. His YouTube series was selected as an excellent science cultural product in 2018 by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. He continues to promote the joy of science through public lectures and media.
The couple’s wedding was an intimate event, attended by around 80 guests including family, relatives, and close friends. Singer Paul Kim performed his hit song “Every Day, Every Moment” as a congratulatory song to celebrate the couple’s new beginning.
Younha, known for her deep interest in space and science, has often been nicknamed the “Space Goddess.” Many of her hit songs feature space-related themes—such as “Event Horizon,” which explores the idea of separation through the boundary of a black hole; “Oort Cloud,” where she anthropomorphizes the Voyager spacecraft as a symbol of human curiosity and challenge; and “c/2022YH” which refers to a periodic comet and reflects her personal affinity with celestial objects.
In 2023, Younha was invited to a presidential luncheon with leaders in the space industry, where she introduced her album as “a product that couldn’t have been born without scientific achievement.” Her passion for science led to her connection with Science Cookie, and their shared interests eventually blossomed into a relationship and, ultimately, marriage.
Younha expressed her happiness by announcing, “I met a reliable partner and got married,” calling Science Cookie her “reliable partner.” He also shared his joy via social media, saying he was “in love.”
Interestingly, the wedding took place on the third anniversary of Younha’s hit song “Event Horizon,” adding special meaning to the start of their new chapter together.
