On the April 20th episode of MBN’s variety show 'Let’s Go' Season 4 (Episode 11), hosts Ahn Jung Hwan and Hong Hyun Hee visited the home of the “Prince of Asia,” actor Jang Geun Suk.

Jang Geun Suk made headlines in August 2024 when he revealed he had been battling thyroid cancer. When asked how the diagnosis changed him, he shared,“I started to treat myself with more care. I try to avoid things that are bad for my health, and I naturally stopped smoking. The pain I went through made me stronger.”

He continued,“Honestly, I have a personal ambition. It might sound arrogant, but I want to earn more money. I’ve received so much love, and I want to give back to the people who’ve given to me. I have a dream of starting a charity, and I’m currently studying for it.”

Jang said his diagnosis became a turning point in his outlook:
“I once made a major donation—about 1.2 billion won (Approximately $900,000 USD)—to Hanyang University. I wanted to help younger students study better. Because Hanyang University is my former school, I went to the hospital there. There, I saw my name on the donor list and ended up receiving surgery under very good conditions. I realized then that the good you give really does come back to you. It felt like a rule set by the universe. It made me think more seriously about giving.”

He added,“From now on, I’m going to work harder and earn more so I can give back to even more people. I know some might find that uncomfortable and say, ‘He’s still being greedy or showing off,’ but I’m not afraid of criticism—I’m going to follow through on what I say.”
