Singer Niel has spoken candidly about his military service status during a recent interview.
On the occasion of his 4th mini album ‘SHE’ release, Niel met with reporters at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul. Before diving into questions about his music, the 1994-born artist addressed the long-standing curiosity about his military enlistment—something that had remained largely unspoken until now.
“I’ve heard that many people are curious about my military status, so I thought it would be best to talk about it first,” Niel began. “I was initially classified as a social service worker, and I was waiting for enlistment. However, after a long period on standby, my classification was changed last year to wartime labor service.”
While Niel did not elaborate on the specific reasons behind his exemption from active or alternative duty, he made it clear that personal circumstances had led to this change, and that he is now no longer required to serve.
Meanwhile, Niel’s mini album ‘SHE’ is set for release on April 22nd at 6 PM KST across major online music platforms.
