Netflix has officially announced that its original series 'Karma,' based on the webtoon of the same name, will premiere on April 4th.
'Karma' is a crime thriller that follows the intertwined destinies of six individuals, bound by a fate they cannot escape. The series is a live-action adaptation of the webtoon originally created by Choi Hee Sun, which was serialized on Daum Webtoon (now Kakao Webtoon) in 2019.
The recently released teaser poster captures attention with its bold, striking title Karma written in intense calligraphy. Above the title, six characters are connected by red threads, symbolizing their inescapable fates. The tangled and chaotic nature of the threads visually represents the complex and entangled relationships among the characters, evoking curiosity about how their stories will unfold.
Directed by Lee Il Hyung, known for his work on the film A Violent Prosecutor, Karma marks his first foray into directing a series. The cast includes Park Hae Soo, Shin Min Ah, Lee Hee Joon, Kim Sung Kyun, Lee Kwang Soo, and Gong Seung Yeon, who will bring this gripping crime thriller to life.
The trailer, also released alongside the poster, intensifies the suspense with solemn background music, showcasing glimpses of the six main characters: the Witness (Park Hae Soo), Joo Yeon (Shin Min Ah), the Loan Shark (Lee Hee Joon), Gil Ryong (Kim Sung Kyun), the Man with Glasses (Lee Kwang Soo), and Yoo Jung (Gong Seung Yeon). Their interactions hint at the ominous beginning of their entangled fate.
A haunting tagline—"An evil bond that cannot be severed"—contrasts with a desperate plea, "Let’s end this dirty connection here," intensifying curiosity about the personal stories that have ensnared each character in this vicious cycle of misfortune.
Netflix commented, "As the series unfolds, the complex web of relationships and the explosive emotions of the characters will heighten the tension and immersion. 'Karma' masterfully weaves a dense thriller, raising anticipation for its gripping narrative." The series is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 4th.
