Netizens ranked the male idol groups and solos, and their songs that hit the roof of South Korea's biggest music service Melon the most.
What's a roof hit/roof kick?
A Melon roof hit means that the number of people streaming and downloading the song has reached the maximum score on Melon's graph. 1 roof hit means, a song maintained its maximum score every 5 minutes for 1 hour.
Side notes:
*Melon started counting roof hits in late 2010.
*Overall, Bigbang is the 2nd artist after IU with the most roof hits.
*All of Bigbang's title songs except for Fantastic Baby hit the roof.
*Bigbang is the only artist to hit the roof with two non-title track songs (Girlfriend and Flower Road.)
*Zico's Any Song, which was released in 2020, is the song that hit the roof most.
*iKON's "My Type" that hit the roof 18 times was a warm-up single that was released before the group's debut.
*Bigbang's Flower Road and Girlfriend; G-Dragon's Having an Affair and Going to Try; Hwang Tae Ji's Mapsosa, iKON's My Type(when hit the roof) g.o.d.'s The Lone Duckling, EXO's Thunder and Moonlight, Baekhyun's The Day are non-title track songs.

1.[+133, -6] If Melon had this roof hit concept in Bigbang's heydays and GD's 'Heartbreaker' era, their current roof hit numbers would be 50 times more. GD's 'Heartbreaker' album was on all domestic charts. He was 22 years old thenㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋLook at the 22-year-old idols now
2.[+103, -5] If I had to pick a group, it would be Bigbang. Every song they released was a hit. GD and Taeyang's solos were also huge hits. TOP, Daesung, and Seungri's solos were also popular. Bigbang is really an unprecedented artist in the Korean music industry.
3.[+94, -4] But really, Bigbang's GoMaHaBulg (Lies, Last Farewell, Haru Haru, Sunset Glow) .. Seriously, 100 times more popular (than the ones on the list). These were their biggest hitsㅠㅠ When Lies was released in August 2008, it ranked #1 2 months in a row on Cyworld which had 20 million users then. Melon wasn't mainstream then. Look at Taeyang's Wedding Dress, GD's Heartbreaker, etc. They are not even on the list.
4.[+66, -1] If Melon had counted these back then, Bigbang would have been #1 overwhelmingly with their 4 consecutive hits Lies, Last Farewell, Haru Haru, and Sunset Glow. They were Bigbang's peak.
5.[+63, -30] Aside from BTS fans keep manipulating the charts, Bigbang has a lot of hit songs.
6.[+57, -2] Bigbang's songs like Lies, Haru Haru, and Sunset Glow are much more famous than the ones on the list but there wasn't this system on Melon then.
7.[+53, -3] Bigbang is really an irreplaceable group. I wish they come back soon. I'm a male, so I don't like male idols but I like Bigbang. They are really cool.
8.[+38, -2] Do you know what's annoying? When EXO released their songs in 2015, 2016, and 2017, they were always #2 on Melon and couldn't take #1 because of those who did sajaegi.
(sajaegi = chart manipulation)
9.[+37, -7] Let's be honest. When GD's marijuana scandal came up to the light in 2011, he was cursed to death but after he came back, he did so well. Now, he was cursed because of Seungri's scandal but when he comes back he will be #1 on the charts again.
10.[+34, 0] This is Melon+Genie roof hit numbers
1st Bigbang 470
2nd G-Dragon 281
3rd Zico 225
4th Hwang Taeji 93
5th iKON 86
6th EXO 82
7th Baekhyun 39
8th BTS 38
9th g.o.d. 21
10th Beast 18
11.[+29, -7] I was born in 2005. Old songs? I don't know them but I know Bigbang and all of their songs. People around me know a lot about Bigbang but know only Butter from BTS.
12.[+27, 0] Kwon JiYong is crazyㅋㅋ His group is already #1, and he took the #3? Bigbang isn't even a group that makes comeback every year, but even their non-title track songs are on the list.
13.[+25, 0] Wow, iKON! When is your comeback?
14.[+22, 0] My Type is not even a title song, it's a pre-release songㅋㅋㅋㅋ a lot of people don't know it
15.[+22, 0] Looking at this, I can see that the general public doesn't listen to male idols' songs.. No matter if their beat or something is great
Why am I not surprised? Do you think that they are called the kings of kpop for nothing?
