The first episode of Mnet's 'Produce X 101' aired on May 3. Actor Lee Dong Wook, the main MC of the new season, welcomed the trainees and revealed a total of 11 trainees will be debuting like season 2 that produced Wanna One. However, the 11th member will be not selected by their final ranking but by their total amount of votes. 

The ranking of 'X' has also been added. Trainees will be divided into the ranks A, B, C, D, and X depending on their level of talent. The X rank trainees are deemed unfit for debut and will not be able to enter the training center. 

101 trainees from various agencies including Woollim, YG, JYP, Starship, Sidus HQ, Creker, Maroo, and more gathered for the first time and engaged in the level test.
