Mino gave the reasoning as to why he joined 'SMTM 4,' saying, "I just wanted to do it. I was burdened, too. If I said I'm not burdened by Bobby's win last season, I'd be lying."
Aside from the colossal burden dumped on him by Papa YG and former 'SMTM' winner Bobby, Mino has not much to be anxious about. At the appearance of the idol, many of the judges were delighted since they have always liked his rapping. The judge panel asked Mino which crew he'd like to be a part of as they were all eager to have the idol join their team, stating, "If we were on the same team, then we will have more energy." Mino wasted no time selecting the crew of PALOALTO and Zico.
Mino then started spitting some rhymes, enrapturing all the judges, even making some of the judges laugh at his verses overflowing with wit. It was clear that all of the judges were thoroughly impressed with Mino's sharp rap skills...save for one person. Jay Park spoiled the mood by hitting the fail button as soon as Mino started rapping, declaring that he "didn't like [Mino's] weird gestures when the beat came on" and that the idol "tried too hard to look cool."
Despite Jay Park's caustic remarks, Mino safely passed the second preliminary rounds amid the enthusiastic support of the judges. Fellow label mate and sunbae Tablo praised, "Your lyrical delivery was great."
Hopefully Mino will continue to impress not only the judges but also the audience as the show progresses!
