Singer Lee Seung Hwan (ONLEE) (59) has been accused of forgery and fraud related to U.S. Travel official documents.
On March 3, Lee shared an image of the complaint on his Instagram account.
According to the complaint, the Maryland Forensic Science Laboratory has filed accusations against Lee for forging and falsifying official documents. The complainant stated, "The suspect, Lee Seung Hwan, committed the crime of forging or altering official documents related to his U.S. travel records on his Facebook social media account around February 21, 2025. A thorough investigation and strict punishment are requested."
In response, Lee reacted with sarcasm, saying, "I wholeheartedly welcome this accusation!" His reaction has drawn significant attention.
Previously, some internet users had reported Lee, along with singer and actress IU, to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) after he participated in a rally calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol in December 2024. Their intent was reportedly to brand them as anti-American figures, thereby making their U.S. entry more difficult or preventing them from obtaining an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) visa-free entry permit.
Amid these developments, on February 16, Lee announced on Instagram that he had traveled to the U.S. to attend his nephew’s wedding. However, some YouTubers cast doubt on his claim, arguing that there were no photos from the wedding or any pictures of him with other attendees. They alleged that the photos he posted were manipulated and that his U.S. visit was fabricated.
One YouTuber, on February 18, uploaded a video titled 'Seung Hwan, Want to Bet with Me?' The video challenged Lee, asking him to provide photos taken at the airport or with his family to prove his presence at the wedding.
In response, on February 19, Lee accepted the bet on the condition that the YouTuber permanently cease their YouTube activities. He then released his U.S. entry and exit records as proof. At the time, Lee commented, "When did I ever say I went to the moon? Examine the entry and exit records carefully. If you still don’t believe me, don’t just hide behind anonymity and whisper—go ahead and accuse me of document forgery."
