On the March 3 broadcast of tvN STORY's entertainment show 'Can I Love Now,' actress Kang Ye Won made an appearance and opened up about taking a break from acting.
"I've just been living diligently," Ye Won shared. "After appearing in the drama 'The One and Only' two years ago, I acted in and produced movies. I painted, had exhibitions, and tried not to be alone."
She then admitted to being a workaholic, someone who prioritizes her work. "I cried a lot because of malicious comments," said Ye Won on why she took a hiatus. She continued, "I was hit hard by the small wounds that others receive. I wondered how long I would have to live this hard."
"I couldn't escape from the fear and stress of malicious comments. I thought, 'I should just throw it all away and take a break'," she shared.
On the reason for taking a break from dating, Ye Won responded, "I was satisfied just watching other people's relationships. (My relationships) aren't going well, and I'm not the type to ask others to introduce me to someone, so it's easier to live from an observer's perspective."
Ye Won also shared how her focus shifted from herself to her parents, saying, "I decided to appear in order to give hope to my 83-year-old father and 75-year-old mother who are not in good health. These days, whenever I fall asleep at night, I'm afraid that my father will pass away. The reason I work hard is because of my parents. And what my parents want the most is for their daughter to meet a partner and live a stable life and to appear on TV a lot."
She emphasized, "I really need to work hard while my parents are alive. I'm a filial daughter."
