According to a report by TenAsia on the 9th, Ji Chang Wook has been cast as the male lead in the new series ‘The Mantis’.
‘The Mantis’ is a thriller that unfolds as a woman, long imprisoned as a serial killer, finds someone starting a series of murders mimicking her style. It’s a remake of the French original drama ‘The Mantis’, which was released on Netflix in December 2017 and garnered attention.
There had been news that Ko Hyun-jung was considered for the leading role in this Korean remake of ‘The Mantis’. The project is co-produced by Merry Christmas and Megamonster, with plans to start full-scale production within the year.
Ji Chang-wook is currently receiving praise for his role as the lead in the JTBC drama ‘Welcome to Samdali’. In ‘Welcome to Samdali’, he plays Jo Yong-pil, a stubborn forecaster at the Jeju Meteorological Agency. In the drama, Yong-pil is depicted as a ‘natural-born healer’, comforting the heart of Samdal (played by Shin Hye-sun), his soulmate in distress, providing warmth, emotion, and excitement to the viewers.
