Taeyeon's Global Fan Union has issued an official statement pressing SM Entertainment to provide valid feedback and compensation for the recent cancellation of the Girls' Generation member's 'The Tense' concert in Japan.
Originally, Taeyeon was scheduled to hold the Japan stop of her ongoing 2025 tour, 'The Tense', at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo from April 19-20. However, just 2 days before the first show, SM Entertainment announced the event's abrupt cancellation, causing shock. The label cited the "failed delivery of equipment needed for the tour" as the reason for the cancellation, stating, "We tried to search for alternative methods to proceed with the concert, but ultimately, it was concluded that the show could not go on under these circumstances."
Taeyeon herself also spoke up to reveal her frustration on the matter, saying, "I was so upset and worried for Sone when I heard the cancellation news. I don't know what to say. I hate that it's come to this and I'm just so sorry to Sone. It feels like my concert, which is the result of the hard work of so many people, was stolen from me in a flash. I feel so at a loss and dejected."
However, for many fans, it seems that SM Entertainment's curt explanation for the concert cancellation was unsatisfactory. They banded together to release a statement of demand on April 24 KST, urging SM Entertainment for a detailed explanation, followed by an apology and appropriate compensation.
Taeyeon then shared the fan union's statement via her Instagram, showing her support.
