FIFTY FIFTY's agency ATTRAKT has filed a criminal complaint against the former co-CEO Ahn Sung Il, the group's creator and producer of their hit song "Cupid."
The agency has accused producer Ahn Sung Il of being the "outside force" attempting to poach the members of FIFTY FIFTY. ATTRAKT filed a complaint with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station against four individuals, including The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il, on charges of obstructing business, tampering with electronic records, fraud, and breach of trust.
ATTRAKT stated, "The Givers entered into a service contract with us, taking on the responsibility of (FIFTY FIFTY's) project management and overseeing the business operations. However, during the transition, they engaged in activities that undermined our business, such as deleting company email accounts and project-related data, causing damage to electronic records, and committing acts of fraud and breach of trust in the course of their business dealings."
The label also added that The Givers' CEO secretly purchased the copyright for the girl group's hit song "Cupid" from the overseas producer.
Although the music site Melon credits SIAHN (The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il), AHIN, and FIFTY FIFTY member Keena as lyricists for "Cupid," along with three Swedish composers listed as the song's creators, the Korean Music Copyright Association search results indicate that only CEO Ahn Sung Il, AHIN, and Keena hold the copyright. This discrepancy raises doubts about whether the Swedish composers actually transferred their copyrights to anyone.
Prior to these events, ATTRAKT claimed on June 26 that a third party approached Warner Music Korea to sell FIFTY FIFTY, and The Givers, led by CEO Ahn Sung Il, was identified as the third party.
They had one hit song and the company's already got some drama going on😭
