On October 1, YeonJeong Kim, Managing Director of Global K-Pop & K-Content at Twitter, announced the Top 20 most-tweeted Korean content at MU:CON 2021.
Extensive data analysis of tweets from July 2018 to June 2021 revealed that 'Itaewon Class' was the 2nd most-mentioned K-drama in the world, after Kingdom.
It also confirmed that the two most-tweeted topics related to 'Itaewon Class' were 'Sweet Night OST' and 'BTS V,' who sang and participated in the OST's composition and production.
In addition, the data revealed that word cloud related to 'Itaewon Class' connected it to 11 other K-dramas in 2021. This shows that interest in 'Itaewon Class' led fans to other K-dramas, making it a critical influence in getting new fans interested in more K-content.
The analysis also showed that 'Navillera' was the 6th most popular K-webtoon mainly due to Taehyung recommending it on a fan cafe.
The global impact of Kim Taehyung, aka V, continues to expand beyond K-pop and into other Korean content.
