IU kept her promise to a fan to attend her high school graduation.
On February 14, the singer and actress made a surprise appearance at the Kimjae Girls High School in North Jeolla Province, where she congratulated the graduating class of 2019. A student from the high school asked IU at her 10th anniversary fan meeting if she could perform for her class through a 'School Attack' event, and IU promised to show up at a music festival held at the school instead.
Though the singer's schedule didn't allow her to attend the festival, IU made sure to keep her promise by attending her fan's graduation. She surprised the graduating class by stepping on stage and saying, "I thought about what could be a good graduation present, and I was told the meaning of freesia flowers is 'I'm cheering on your beginning.' To the graduating students of Kimjae Girls High School, you're going to go out into society now. I came here to support your beginning at least a little bit."
IU also gave a special gift to the fan who invited her, saying, "People around me said that perfume would be a good present, so I'm gifting you my favorite perfume and body lotion," and handed her the present along with a bouquet of flowers.
That was really nice of her.
