The group NewJeans will pre-release the music video for “Right Now,” a track from their Japanese debut single “Supernatural,” on the 17th.
At midnight on the 10th, NewJeans posted the second teaser for “Right Now” on the HYBE Labels YouTube channel. Unlike the first teaser, which only featured the instrumental, this teaser includes a segment of the melody with the members' vocals.
The teaser also draws attention with its unique visuals, hinting at a collaboration with Takashi Murakami. The video showcases the NewJeans x Takashi Murakami characters and the Powerpuff Girls characters from their previous work “Get Up,” blended into the styling of the five members.
At the end of the video, the release date of the music video (2024.06.17) is revealed, heightening fans' anticipation.
The group's agency, ADOR, stated, “We plan to release the ‘Right Now’ music video on the 17th, four days before the Japanese debut single. You can look forward to the lovely charm of NewJeans.”
NewJeans' Japanese debut is drawing attention for its impressive scale. Global pop star Pharrell Williams is credited on the title track “Supernatural.”
“Supernatural” samples Pharrell Williams’ iconic ad-libs and bridge from the 2009 collaboration with Japanese artist Manami, “Back of My Mind,” reinterpreted in a new jack swing style by producer 250.
Collaborations with cultural and artistic giants such as Takashi Murakami and Hiroshi Fujiwara further raise expectations for NewJeans' debut activities in Japan. Takashi Murakami will collaborate on a “bag album,” released as drawstring and crossbody bags, while Hiroshi Fujiwara will work on street fashion items like t-shirts, bandanas, hats, and bags, targeting Gen Z tastes worldwide. Official merchandise from these collaborations will be available at the “Supernatural” release pop-up store on the 26th in Korea and Japan.
A large-scale fan meeting is also planned. After releasing their Japanese debut single on the 21st, NewJeans will hold the “Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome” fan meeting at Tokyo Dome on the 26th and 27th.
This marks the shortest time (1 year and 11 months) for a foreign artist to enter Tokyo Dome post-debut, and the event has sold out despite being held on weekdays.
Meanwhile, NewJeans, who made a comeback in Korea on the 24th of last month, are actively promoting. With their double single “How Sweet,” they have achieved their fourth consecutive million-seller status, topped major domestic music charts like Melon, and performed well on global charts, including Billboard.
