RM (Rap Monster) and Jimin of global K-pop sensation BTS have been nominated for the upcoming 'American Music Awards (AMAs),' marking a significant milestone in their solo careers.
According to the official AMAs website on the 23rd (local time), RM and Jimin have both been nominated for the Favorite K-Pop Artist category. This is the first time the two artists have received nominations as solo performers at the prestigious awards ceremony.
BTS previously made history at the AMAs in 2022 by winning the Favorite K-Pop Artist award—the first time the category was introduced. The group also took home the award for Favorite Pop Duo or Group that year, securing two major wins.
BTS’s long-standing history with the AMAs began in 2017 when they became the first Korean act to perform at the event. The following year, they won Favorite Social Artist, beginning a streak of accolades that underscored their global impact.
In 2019, BTS swept three categories: Favorite Social Artist, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Tour of the Year. They continued to dominate in 2020 with two awards and again in 2021, winning Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Favorite Pop Song.
The 'American Music Awards,' considered one of the 'Big Three' U.S. music awards alongside the 'Billboard Music Awards' and the 'Grammys,' honors the most influential and iconic artists of the year. This year’s ceremony is set to take place on May 26 at 5 p.m. in Los Angeles.
