In a horrifying case of school violence, a group of teenage bullies visited the home of a middle school student who had been left alone for over a month while his family traveled abroad. They not only assaulted him but also ransacked his home, damaging property and stealing items to sell online.
According to JTBC’s 'Crime Chief' on the 21st, the victim, A's father, Mr. B, shared that he had gone abroad with his wife and two daughters last month, leaving their son alone at home. "While my son was home alone, a group of attackers visited and tormented him in a way that was beyond bullying," he reported.
The perpetrators gained access to the house by learning the security code. They would frequently come and go, assaulting A while he was sleeping. In addition to physically abusing him, they damaged the ceilings, walls, and doors, and even sold some of A’s clothes and electronics online.
The bullies also took advantage of a card A’s father had given him, using it to make purchases at a chicken shop and a soup restaurant without permission.
Mr. B reported a property damage of over 6.5 million KRW (about $4,530) due to the destruction caused to their rented home, which will be vacated this month. "It breaks my heart to think my son was assaulted in what should have been the safest place, our home, for more than a month," he lamented.
Despite notifying the school of the bullying, no significant actions have been taken so far. Feeling helpless, Mr. B has filed a police report on charges of assault, special assault, theft, and property damage.
The perpetrators reportedly defended their actions, claiming it was "just a prank."
