Korean netizens are talking about what SM Entertainment's 'SM' stands for.
On October 7th, a post titled "SM is changing its official name" garnered attention on a popular online community. The original poster said SM Entertainment's 'SM' used to mean 'Soo Man' but now the company is listing its stocks under the name 'Star Museum' Entertainment. But shortly after, this post was met with many other netizens chiming in to correct the misinformation, which ended up boosting the post.
Back in 1995, the entertainment company was named after the founder Lee Soo Man's initials but it was registered as 'Star Museum' Entertainment since its IPO in the Korean stock market back in 2000.
Some of the comments include, "It was always Star Museum lol", "I had no idea I really thought SM stands for Soo Man lol", and "Pls, did you really think the official company name was Soo Man Entertainment lmao."
Did you know what SM Entertainment's 'SM' stood for?
