As of April 1, it has been confirmed that the highly anticipated drama adaptation of 'The Remarried Empress' will be released on Disney+. The drama, based on the popular web novel, has already garnered significant attention, and principal photography is set to commence between late May and early June.
According to an exclusive report by IZE, 'The Remarried Empress' is a fantasy court romance drama adapted from the widely acclaimed web novel of the same name. The story follows Navier, the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire, who is forced into divorce after her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, engages in an affair. However, she later remarries Heinrey, the prince of the Western Kingdom, and regains her status as an empress. The novel's immense popularity has led to its ongoing serialization as a webtoon, amassing a dedicated fan base eagerly awaiting its drama adaptation.

The casting for the drama has drawn considerable attention. Shin Min Ah has been confirmed for the role of Navier, while Lee Sae Young has been cast as Rashta, the concubine involved with Emperor Sovieshu. Meanwhile, Lee Jong Suk has been offered the role of Heinrey, and Ju Ji Hoon has been approached to play Emperor Sovieshu. Although both actors have yet to finalize their contracts, discussions are progressing positively.
Disney+ is expected to make a strong comeback with 'The Remarried Empress' following the lukewarm reception of 'Knock-Off.' The streaming platform has been heavily investing in Asian content in recent years, following successful projects like 'Big Bet,' 'Moving,' and 'Light Shop.' This time, Disney+ is expanding its portfolio with a traditional romance fantasy drama. Given the global reach of Disney+, a star-studded cast, and a well-established fan base, 'The Remarried Empress' is poised to receive an enthusiastic response from audiences both in South Korea and internationally.
