On March 31, Kim Soo Hyun held an emergency press conference denying all allegations that he had dated the late Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor.
During the press conference, Kim Soo Hyun addressed the allegations and said, "It feels like too many people are suffering because of me. I am sorry." He added, "It pains me to think that even the deceased may not be able to rest in peace."
Kim Soo Hyun revealed that he had long contemplated speaking out, saying, "Every time our private lives were exposed, I kept thinking, 'Let's talk about everything tomorrow, let’s end this hellish situation by speaking up directly.' But each time, I hesitated. I worried about how my decision would affect those around me, whether it might lead to a worse outcome for everyone, including myself," he said with teary eyes.

However, he firmly denied allegations that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. Kim Soo Hyun explained, "The late Kim Sae Ron and I dated for a year, five years ago—four years before 'Queen of Tears' aired. At that time, I denied our relationship."
He acknowledged the backlash, saying, "I understand that it’s natural for people to criticize me for this. I also understand if people find it hard to believe what I say. But since this is my only chance to speak, please listen to me just this once."
Despite Kim Soo Hyun's defense and explanation during the recent press conference, Korean netizens have turned their backs on the actor. They cited the evidence presented by Hoverlab, including the messages and letters he sent to Kim Sae Ron during his mandatory military service.
They commented:
"Is he crazy?"
"If he wasn't dating her in 2018, while he was in the military, why did he send her letters and messages like that?"
"So, he wasn't dating her, but he sent her videos like that?"
"It's a bigger problem if he spoke with a minor in the manner he did when they weren't even dating."
"What he's saying is more gross because he's saying that he didn't even date her when he was sending her messages that sound intimate."
"He's given up. lol."
"Does he not understand talking to a minor like that is a bigger problem?"
"So why did he send letters and messages like that to a minor if he didn't even date her?"
"He still denies that he dated her."
"It's weirder if he did all that when he wasn't even dating her."
"Aww, you crying? Who cares if you cry?"
"What he did is basically sexual harassment."
"The Kakaotalk message logs were already revealed. What's the point of denying that you were dating?"
"So, he wasn't dating her during 2018... but then he sent so many intimate texts and letters... that's harassing a minor."
"This is not much of a clean up but more like messing things up more. Does he not know what's wrong with what he's saying?"
