BoA has shared a heartfelt message following her recent apology over a controversial comment made during an intoxicated livestream. In the early hours of April 15th KST, the artist posted a lengthy note on Weverse, opening up about the emotional toll of the past few years and her enduring commitment to music.
“Over the past few years, I’ve been going through difficult times—not just professionally, but personally as well,” she wrote. “I believed I was doing my best, but I’ve come to realize that the way I pushed forward might have made some people uncomfortable.”
BoA reflected on how her mindset has evolved: “In the past, I thought just doing what I was told, and doing it well, would be enough. But as the world changed—and I did too—I found myself repeatedly questioning whether this was still the right place for me.”
Despite the emotional challenges, BoA explained why she never let go of music: “Because if I were to lose music, it would feel like my entire life had crumbled. That’s why, in any form or way, I’ve wanted to stay connected to you through music. Even in the moments I collapsed and felt like I couldn’t stand again, you—and music—were still there.”
She added: “I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to stand on stage. We’re all getting older. But I still believe there’s a burning potential in all of us. I want to rediscover that spark together with you.”
“Thanks to all of you who trust, worry, and quietly support me, I can still say today—I am BoA.”
This message comes in the wake of a controversy where BoA, during a joint livestream with broadcaster Jun Hyun Moo, made a dismissive comment about comedian Park Na Rae. When a viewer asked about a potential romance between Jun and Park, BoA replied, “I don’t think they’ll date. Oppa is too good for her,” sparking criticism for being disrespectful.
In response, BoA issued a public apology, stating: “I sincerely apologized to Park Na Rae for making an inappropriate remark in her absence, and I’m grateful she was understanding. I also want to apologize to my fans, who have supported me for so long, for letting them down.” Jun Hyun Moo also apologized and said he immediately reached out to Park Na Rae after the broadcast.
While the incident stirred backlash, BoA’s honest and emotional message has drawn support from fans who continue to appreciate her transparency and passion for her craft.
