SEVENTEEN’s Woozi talks copyright riches and the perks of being himself
On April 15th KST, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi appeared alongside fellow member Hoshi on the YouTube talk show ‘Salon Drip 2’, hosted by Jang Do Yeon. The episode, titled “When you witness your best friend’s business up close,” showcased Woozi’s role as the group’s lead producer and shed light on the staggering success of his music career.
When Jang brought up the frequent search term “Woozi annual income,” she noted, “I heard you’ve registered over 100 songs under your name.” Woozi humbly responded, “I haven’t counted recently, but it should be close to 200 by now.”
Hoshi jumped in with a lighthearted revelation: “I was once in Woozi’s studio and happened to see his copyright earnings email pop up.” The jaw-dropping amount apparently left such an impression that Hoshi joked, “In my next life, I want to give birth to Woozi as my son.”
Woozi, amused, replied, “I’ve thought that too. If I had a son like me, his life would be so easy. As long as he doesn’t get greedy, he could live in such a beautiful and comfortable world.”
The two also opened up about their creative process. With 13 members, producing an album isn’t always smooth sailing. Woozi explained, “There are so many opinions—members, the company—it used to get confusing. Now we just set a date, gather everyone, and agree on things on the spot.”
Hoshi added, “Since we know too many cooks could make it harder for Woozi, we usually follow his lead.”
