Koo Jun Yup, a member of the legendary K-pop duo Clon, is reportedly visiting his late wife Barbie Hsu’s (Xu Xiyuan) grave every single day, showing his unwavering love and grief following her passing.
On April 16th, Taiwanese outlet ETtoday reported on a recent interview with Taiwanese singer Bai Bingbing, who spoke about a conversation she had with Hsu’s mother. According to Bai, Hsu’s mother was deeply touched by Koo’s devotion.
“She told me that Jun Yup visits Barbie Hsu’s grave at Jinbaoshan every day. She was incredibly moved,” Bai shared. “She also said that both Jun Yup and Xu Xidi [Barbie’s sister] are still unable to escape the pain of their loss.”
Bai Bingbing, who tragically lost her own daughter in a highly publicized kidnapping and murder case in 1997, added, “Hsu’s mother asked me how to move on from this kind of pain. I told her, ‘I cried for 20 years after losing my daughter. Please call me whenever you need to talk.’”
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2nd during a family trip to Japan, after developing pneumonia alongside the flu. She was 48. Her husband Koo Jun Yup and family completed cremation procedures in Japan and brought her ashes back to Taiwan on February 5th.
On February 6th, Koo shared a heartbreaking message on Instagram: “Right now I’m in indescribable pain and sorrow, going through a time that feels like my insides are being ripped apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I want to.”
Barbie Hsu, known internationally for her role as Shan Cai in the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, rose to fame in the early 2000s. In South Korea, she is also well known for her romantic history with Koo Jun Yup. The two first met in 1998 and dated briefly before breaking up due to long distance and management opposition.
They reconnected more than 20 years later after Hsu divorced Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2021. Koo reached out, and the couple quickly rekindled their romance, marrying in 2022. Hsu leaves behind a son and daughter from her previous marriage.
