Singer-actor Lee Seung Gi is returning to his roots.
On April 18, a representative from Big Planet Made told Dispatch in a phone call, “Lee Seung Gi is currently preparing a new song with the goal of releasing it in May.”
Lee Seung Gi has long been known for his powerful ballads, earning him the nickname “Prince of Ballads,” and he’s expected to showcase his trademark emotional vocals once again.
This year marks Lee Seung Gi’s 21st anniversary since his debut. Last year, he celebrated his 20th anniversary with the album With, which featured collaborations with artists like Lyn, Cha Eun Woo, Lee Mujin, and Lee Soo.
The album reinterpreted five of his hit songs, “Because You’re My Woman,” “Delete,” “Words That Are Hard to Say,” “Return,” and “The Story That Hasn’t Ended Yet,” receiving much love from listeners.
At the time, Lee Seung Gi expressed his passion for music, saying, “I want to make music that the public enjoys listening to. I want to keep doing this consistently, for a long time, and have fun with it.”
Last year, he also thrived as an all-around entertainer. He returned to the big screen as the lead in the film 'About Family' (directed by Yang Woo Seok), and also led the variety show 'The Law of the Jungle: Tribe Wars.'
Meanwhile, Lee Seung Gi recently won a legal battle over unpaid earnings with his former agency Hook Entertainment. The court ruled that “Hook must pay Lee Seung Gi an additional 581 million KRW (409,619 USD).”
