Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon’s ‘My First Night With the Male Lead’ to premiere this June.
After overcoming controversy and production hurdles, KBS2’s new fantasy romance drama ‘My First Night With the Male Lead’ (literal title) starring Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon is officially set to premiere on June 11th KST.
Directed by Lee Woong Hee and Kang Soo Yeon, with a script by Jeon Sun Young, the drama tells the story of a college student who suddenly finds herself trapped in the body of a minor background character within a romance novel. After an unexpected one-night encounter with the novel’s most obsessive male lead, her fate spins wildly off-course in what the production describes as a “no-brakes detour fantasy romance.”
The production team shared, “Through this romance that transcends space, dimension, and fate, we hope to provide a bit of escape fantasy for modern viewers. We invite you to enjoy the chaotic butterfly effect that unfolds from one background character’s bold misstep.”
However, the show previously faced backlash after filming at Byeongsan Seowon—a designated Korean historical site and UNESCO World Heritage location—resulted in damage to the structure. The team had reportedly hammered nails into a column to mount props. In response to the public outcry, KBS announced it would discard all footage shot at the site.
