Shin Won Ho, the creator behind 'Resident Playlist', had high praise for lead actress Go Yoon Jung during a director’s talk held on April 15th KST in Jung-gu, Seoul. Speaking about the casting process for the 'Hospital Playlist' spinoff, he explained, “Casting was done together with the director and writer. Their opinions held significant weight. I’ve always been confident that my audition system is the most efficient way to discover great actors, so we all watched together and aligned on the direction.”
Regarding Go Yoon Jung, who plays the lead role of Oh I Young, Shin shared, “The production team already had a lot of interest in her, so we met with her. You know how people often have preconceived notions about actors who look a certain way. She’s incredibly beautiful, and you’d think someone like that would carry a particular attitude—but I’ve never met someone so down-to-earth. She told us she speaks like a fifth-grade boy. That mix with the character of Oh I Young made her even more charming.”
Shin emphasized that there was zero disagreement in casting her. “Her strengths are extraordinary. She has so many natural gifts—not just her looks. Her best asset is actually her expressionless face. For an actor, maintaining a completely neutral expression is extremely difficult, but she pulls it off. She’s emotionally dynamic, hardworking, and diligent. She already has so much, and she has so much more room to grow.”
The much-anticipated drama 'Resident Playlist', which premiered on April 12th, follows the journey of medical residents as they struggle, deny, and eventually embrace their paths in becoming doctors. It serves as a spinoff to the hit series Hospital Playlist.
