Actress Park Eun Bin recently reflected on her career trajectory and the pressure of portraying genius characters, including her latest role in Disney+’s upcoming series 'Hyper Knife'.
During a round interview held at a café in Seoul’s Jongno District on April 15th, Park Eun Bin met with Herald POP to discuss her thoughts ahead of the 'Hyper Knife' release. When asked about the lingering impact of 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo', which remains widely beloved nearly three years after its broadcast, she shared:
“It’s already been three years since ‘Woo Young Woo,’ but I know not everyone has seen all of my work. I just hope people understand that I always strive to show something new in each project.”
Marking her 30th year in the entertainment industry, Park expressed her desire to continue evolving.
“They say I’ve been acting for 30 years now. I want to spend the next 30 years trying things I haven’t done yet—never standing still and constantly growing, both as an actress and as a person.”
With seasonal dramas becoming increasingly popular, curiosity continues to swirl around the possibility of Extraordinary Attorney Woo season 2. Park commented:
“Just like ‘Hyper Knife,’ the fact that people are waiting for a season 2 is proof of how much love the show received, which is an honor as an actor. But in my view, season 2 should only happen if we’re sure it can live up to season 1. Without strong confidence, I don’t think it should be pursued lightly. As of now, I haven’t received any contact about it.”
Despite previously saying she would avoid playing another genius character after Woo Young Woo, Park returns in Hyper Knife as another exceptional mind. She explained:
“After ‘Woo Young Woo,’ I did think I should avoid genius roles for a while—there’s a lot geniuses have to carry, and I’m not one myself. But I realized viewers find real catharsis in watching such characters. If people feel satisfaction or healing through these portrayals, that’s a good thing. So now I’m keeping an open mind about it again.”
Park also spoke about her unwavering dedication to her craft, proudly stating:
“I haven’t had a real hiatus. Every year, I’ve taken on a role and grown with it. As time goes on, the responsibilities of being a lead actress get bigger. But I’d rather call that responsibility than pressure. It makes me think beyond the short term and look further ahead, trying to build a long-term blueprint. I hope people continue to watch how I evolve and grow.”
With 'Hyper Knife' generating buzz ahead of its release, fans are eager to see how Park Eun Bin once again brings depth and complexity to another unforgettable character.
