Jaurim’s lead vocalist, Kim Yoon Ah, has revealed her ongoing battle with congenital immunodeficiency, providing a health update from the hospital.
On March 18, Kim Yoon Ah shared a photo from her hospital bed and the caption, "20250314, Auxiliary Battery Day."

In the photo, she is seen lying on a hospital bed with an IV drip attached to her arm. Referring to her treatment day as "Auxiliary Battery Day," she showcased a positive and lighthearted attitude despite her condition. Previously, Kim Yoon Ah had opened up about her struggle with neurological paralysis during a talk on the YouTube channel 'Sebasi Talk' last year.
She shared, "After working on Jaurim’s 8th full-length album in 2011, my immune system weakened severely, leading to neurological paralysis. I was diagnosed with congenital immunodeficiency and have been undergoing monthly treatments ever since. At the time, the paralysis affected my sense of smell, taste, hearing, pain perception, temperature sensitivity, and even the muscles from my face down to my upper body, including the vagus nerve."
Kim Yoon Ah further explained, "Even now, some functions have not fully recovered due to lingering aftereffects. I still experience slight vocal impairment, but I try to suppress it with effort. Fortunately, my hearing and muscles have improved enough for me to continue working, but since that experience, I always feel like each project might be my last."
In September last year, during an appearance on SBS’s 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny,' she disclosed more details about her congenital immunodeficiency. "My immunoglobulin levels are low, so I have to receive an IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) injection every month to boost my immune system using antibodies from healthy individuals," she said.
She also shared advice from her doctor, saying, "Since I have a chronic illness, my doctor told me that I need to get enough sleep. If not, someone with a weak immune system like mine could collapse instantly. There was a time when I was extremely overworked and sleep-deprived, and that’s when the neurological paralysis occurred."
Meanwhile, Kim Yoon Ah has been married to dentist Kim Hyung Kyu since 2006, and the couple has one son together.
