On February 4th, Jang Sung Kyu, a broadcaster and former JTBC anchor, has come under fire for allegedly failing to intervene in the workplace bullying faced by the late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna.

Recently, the YouTube channel 'Garoseyo Research Institute (HoverLab Inc)' revealed a recording of a phone conversation with an MBC insider. The conversation suggested that MBC weathercaster Kim Ga Young had played a role in sowing discord between Jang Sung Kyu and Oh Yoanna. The recording contained claims that Kim Ga Young, who worked with Jang Sung Kyu on a morning show, spoke negatively about Oh Yoanna, warning Jang Sung Kyu not to trust her.

According to the recording, Kim Ga Young allegedly told Jang Sung Kyu, "Yoanna is a liar. She’s a [expletive] person." Upon hearing this, Jang Sung Kyu allegedly confronted Oh Yoanna, asking her, "I heard you're a liar." Shocked, Oh Yoanna asked, "Who said that?" to which Jang Sung Kyu reportedly responded, "Kim Ga Young said so."

Further controversy arose when Jang Sung Kyu's name was mentioned in a group chat with MBC weathercasters. In the chat, an individual named A stated that Oh Yoanna had confided in Jang Sung Kyu about feeling isolated at work. As a result, Jang Sung Kyu allegedly inquired about her situation. In the chat, senior weathercaster Lee Hyun Seung criticized Kim Ga Young for not realizing that Oh Yoanna was aware of her closeness with Jang Sung Kyu.

The exchange continued with Kim Ga Young confirming that Jang Sung Kyu had not been informed of the situation involving Oh Yoanna, and she eventually shared the details with him. When asked about their relationship, Kim Ga Young explained that Jang Sung Kyu and Oh Yoanna knew each other through their shared interest in exercise.

As news of these allegations spread, many netizens flocked to Jang Sung Kyu’s social media, criticizing him for not offering support to Oh Yoanna when she was struggling. Some questioned his lack of awareness, while others expressed disappointment in his response to the situation.
