Actor Son Seok Gu, 41, appeared on 'Yu In Radio,' the YouTube channel hosted by actress Yoo In Na, on February 4th. During the broadcast, Son displayed both his impressive acting skills and fluent English as he reenacted stories sent by listeners.
On the same day, Son Seok Gu shared exciting news about his upcoming role in JTBC's new drama 'Heavenly Ever After,' where he plays the husband of legendary actress Kim Hye Ja, 83. Son revealed behind-the-scenes details of working with Kim, emphasizing their strong chemistry.
He explained, "'Heavenly Ever After' is a love story of a couple in the twilight of their lives. I play the husband of Kim Hye Ja's character, Hae Sook." He quickly clarified, "People might think we are an age-gap couple, but that's not the case."
In the drama, Hae Sook, who passes away and arrives in Heaven, is asked by the Heavenly residents how old she wants to appear. Her late husband, Nak Jun, who had already passed, left a note saying, "My wife is most beautiful as she is now." Consequently, Hae Sook decides to remain in her 80s.
However, when the couple reunites in Heaven, they are shocked by each other's appearance. While Hae Sook chooses to remain in her 80s, Nak Jun opts for his 30s.
Son Seok Gu humorously added, "I went back to my 30s alone," explaining that the story revolves around the couple living in Heaven and the complications that arise.
He also shared an interesting anecdote about the casting process. According to Son, when the director asked Kim Hye Ja for her preferred co-actor, she specifically requested Son, praising his performance in 'My Liberation Notes.' Son expressed his gratitude, saying, "I had the opportunity to experience acting I’ll never have again. Our chemistry is genuine, and I believe viewers will feel the timeless connection between our characters."
