Actress Hwang Jung Eum has addressed the reports regarding a high-intensity tax audit conducted by the National Tax Service.

Her agency, Y-One Entertainment, stated, "Hwang Jung Eum underwent a tax audit by the National Tax Service in 2023. During the coordination process between the tax authorities and her tax accountant, differences in interpretation led to the payment of additional taxes."

Hwang Jung Eum was reportedly subjected to an unscheduled, intensive tax audit by the authorities in September last year.

In March 2018, Hwang Jung Eum purchased a commercial building in Sinsa-dong under her family corporation, Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, which she later sold to a Daegu-based property leasing company in October 2021. The building, originally purchased for 6.25 billion KRW, increased in value to 11 billion KRW, resulting in a profit of approximately 5 billion KRW over three years and seven months. In May 2020, she also purchased a standalone house in Itaewon, Seoul, for approximately 4.6 billion KRW.

Her agency clarified, "There were no issues related to taxes during the purchase and sale of the properties. Additionally, we want to make it clear that there was no intentional tax evasion or any other misconduct. Hwang Jung Eum will continue to faithfully fulfill her tax obligations as a citizen in accordance with the law."

Hwang Jung Eum married businessman and former professional golfer Lee Young Don in 2016, and the couple has two sons. Although they experienced a brief separation and later reconciled, they began divorce proceedings earlier this year. In July, she confirmed a relationship with basketball star Kim Jong Kyu, but the couple parted ways just two weeks later.
