Shownu of Monsta X made a surprise appearance alongside world-famous DJ and producer Steve Aoki at '2025 EDC KOREA'.
On April 25, during Steve Aoki’s set at the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, Shownu unexpectedly joined the stage. As Aoki transitioned into 'play it cool', Shownu emerged to deliver bright live vocals and high-energy performance, perfectly syncing with Aoki’s powerful beats and igniting the crowd.
'Play it cool', featured on Monsta X’s second full-length album 'Take.2 we are here', was produced by Steve Aoki, marking their first collaboration.
This reunion wasn’t their first time sharing the spotlight. Monsta X and Steve Aoki had previously performed together at the 'iHeartRadio Music Festival 2019' in Las Vegas and later at the 'MDL Beast Fest' in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, impressing audiences with their dynamic chemistry.

The spontaneous collaboration at '2025 EDC KOREA' came together when Steve Aoki, visiting Korea, personally invited Shownu to join him—making it their first live performance together in nearly five years. After the event, Aoki shared a video of their performance on social media, while Shownu posted a photo with Aoki on Monsta X’s official channels, highlighting their enduring friendship.
Outside of music, Shownu continues to expand his career. Last year, he made his musical theater debut with 'The great comet' and took on the role of main MC for the YouTube web variety show 'No pogi', earning the Digital Content Award at the '2024 KBS Entertainment Awards'. In February, he walked the Milan Fashion Week runway as an ambassador for the French premium lifestyle brand K-WAY, proving his broad global appeal.
Monsta X will celebrate their 10th debut anniversary on May 14, promising more activities and closer engagement with fans around the world.
