A controversial topic from last year is now being discussed again among netizens, with the recent release of new pictures and information related to the incident. 

On August 1, 2024, the NewJeans fandom Bunnies made headlines by sending dozens of funeral wreaths to the HYBE building, meant as a protest to show their support for former CEO Min Hee Jin. However, the dates of this protest overlapped with the planned birthday celebration for LE SSERAFIM's Chaewon. Chaewon's fans had organized for a special birthday bus to be parked in front of the HYBE building to celebrate the idol's birthday. The two events colliding was already a controversial subject at the time, but became even more controversial once the protest funeral wreaths were placed directly in front of Chaewon's birthday bus to cover it up.

Later, Chaewon's official fanbase posted a statement explaining the situation. They stated that they had tried to communicate with the NewJeans fandom ahead of time, asking them to reschedule their protest or move the location of the funeral wreaths. They clarified that they had no issue with the protest itself, but simply did not want funeral wreaths installed on Chaewon's birthday. In addition, Chaewon's fandom offered to pay the penalty fee of the wreath delivery being rescheduled to a different date. However, the NewJeans fandom replied that it would be too difficult to change.

With the newly revealed information that Chaewon's fandom had offered to pay the penalty fee if NewJeans' fandom would reschedule the funeral wreath protest, yet NewJeans' fandom refused and placed funeral wreaths next to Chaewon's birthday bus, the incident has once again become a hot topic among netizens, despite occurring last year.
