G-Dragon's legal fees for recent drug allegation case estimated to reach up to 2 billion KRW (approx. US$1.5m)

G-Dragon, member of the popular K-Pop group Big Bang, is currently in the spotlight as he denies allegations of involvement in drug-related activities. This sudden turn of events has captured the attention of fans and the general public, who are eagerly awaiting the unfolding of this legal saga.

What stands out most prominently in this case is G-Dragon's decision to secure legal representation from a highly regarded law firm. Notably, the lead attorney at this firm is a former judge from the Constitutional Court who now specializes in defense cases. This strategic choice underscores the gravity with which G-Dragon is approaching the situation. The legal expert's reputation is anticipated to command a substantial fee, with estimates ranging from 500 million to 2 billion KRW (approx. US$370k to US$1.5m), depending on the case's complexity.

When confronted with the allegations, G-Dragon's immediate response was one of incredulity. According to individuals close to him, he denied any communication with the police and expressed annoyance at the accusations. It's important to note that the travel ban imposed on him is regarded as a procedural requirement rather than an admission of guilt. While this does not unequivocally establish his innocence, it underscores the necessity for a comprehensive and impartial investigation.

The backdrop to this controversy is an investigation by the Incheon Provincial Police Agency. They are looking into alleged violations of drug control laws involving G-Dragon and actor Lee Sun Gyun. Notably, this investigation takes place more than a decade after G-Dragon's previous legal encounter, which centered on marijuana use at a Japanese club in 2011.

In an official statement released through his legal representative, G-Dragon forcefully denied any involvement in drug consumption and distanced himself from the current allegations. He emphasized that the news reports did not align with the actual facts of the case, assuring the public of his wholehearted cooperation with the investigative authorities.

As the investigation continues to evolve, legal experts are closely monitoring the situation. Yang Ji Min, an attorney interviewed by YTN's News Wide, provides valuable insights into the case. While G-Dragon persists in denying any wrongdoing, Ji Min emphasizes that his inclusion in the investigation suggests the presence of substantial evidence. She cautions that G-Dragon's strategy, whether to dispute or admit guilt, demands careful deliberation. If G-Dragon is proven to have used drugs, the timing of the alleged activities could become a crucial factor. If the drug use occurred many years ago, it may be used as a defense to argue that the evidence is outdated and unreliable. Moreover, claiming ignorance or medical prescription for drug use may be potential defense strategies.

The future remains uncertain for G-Dragon as he confronts these serious drug allegations. The unwavering support of his fans and the public is evident, with many awaiting the outcome of the ongoing investigation. G-Dragon's choice of legal representation demonstrates his determination to clear his name and protect his reputation. While the case is still unfolding, it serves as a reminder that even the most iconic figures are not immune to legal scrutiny, and the path to vindication may be long and complex.

Good! I’m glad he takes this seriously. I have no clue if he is guilty or not. However, seeing gross negligence in YAI case by SK police good he takes it seriously. SK police is the only one that ‘leaks’ private and confidential info to press tothe extent of breaking basic human rights. They are the only one that use media and career assassination for coercion, and play ‘guilty until proven innocent’ game. I bet they’ll be the first one to open official police TikTok account and dance while sharing private info. Fast track to Idiocracy (I refer to dark comedy film Idiocracy).

Considering that G-Dragon's reputation is on the line, it is crucial that he takes this situation seriously. I hope that he considers taking legal action against those who have tarnished his name in what seems to be a witch hunt. What baffles me is the lack of any official statement from the Incheon Police Agency clarifying the legal basis for implicating G-Dragon. As of now, all I see is hearsay from the press or media, which raises significant concerns about the authenticity of the claims.

I mean, if anyone can simply drop a celebrity's name into a drug case, shouldn't there be concrete evidence to legally implicate those mentioned? If the only proof available is witness testimony, it seems deeply unjust to tarnish someone's reputation based solely on that.
