While BTS' V and BLACKPINK's Jennie have been embroiled in dating rumors over the past few days, YG Entertainment still plans to legally punish those who originally leaked photos of the two idols last year.

On May 19, an industry insider told TV Report, "As far as I know, the investigation into Jennie and V's photo initial leak is still ongoing."

In September 2022, YG Entertainment initiated a request for a formal police investigation into the individual who initially leaked Jennie's personal photographs online. The investigation into the initial leaker has been ongoing for 9 months.

In August of last year, several photos, presumably of Jennie and V, were released. In the released photos, Jennie and V were seen posing closely together in front of a mirror and in the waiting rooms. Dating rumors were raised after the photos were leaked, but YG Entertainment and HYBE did not release any statement on their position about the dating rumors.

Because of the silence, there was a voice of criticism towards the agencies for not protecting the privacy of their artists. After the crticism, YG Entertainment stated they would take legal action against malicious commenters by saying, “To prevent additional harm, we have refrained from commenting and expressing our stance. However, the recent onslaught of rumors, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy triggered by personal photos has become intolerable.”

On May 18, Jennie and V's dating rumors surfaced again as the sighting of the two idols taking a stroll in Paris was spread on various social media platforms. The video of two individuals presumed to be Jennie and V were released and the initial uploader of the video confirmed that the individuals in his video were Jennie and V.
