8 K-pop Songs Where the Verses Outshine the Chorus

Posted by optimusnins17 pts Tuesday, May 16, 2023

Do you ever listen to a song and think the verses outshine the chorus? While the entire song may be enjoyable, sometimes the chorus just doesn't quite live up to the energy or creativity of the verses.

Here are 8 songs that fans say have better verses than the choruses.

Domino by Stray Kids

Domino is such a fun and catchy song. When you have 3RACHA in your team, all of your verses will be fire, but a fan mentioned that the chorus repeats the same few words, making it too repetitive. Although, the sound of falling dominos in the chorus does make it interesting.

Jikjin by TREASURE

This might be a little controversial as most people would agree that every part of this song is perfect, but some do think that they prefer the verses compared to the chorus itself. The verses of the song that builds up to the chorus are just too beautiful; it might overshine the chorus just a little bit.

Young Dumb and Stupid by NMIXX

This is such a fun and cute song, but the Frère Jacques/Brother John tune threw off the song a little bit. As with most of NMIXX's songs, the song is still fun to listen to and dance to.

Full Moon by Dreamcatcher

It's important to note that none of these songs are considered bad or have poor choruses. Instead, it's mainly that the verses excel to such a degree that they overshadow the chorus. Take this particular song as an example: while it has a catchy chorus, the verses offer even more impressive production (and an engaging build-up in the pre-chorus).

Sector 1 by ATEEZ

The group totally baited fans with that dreamy opening with the piano, making them think that it was going to be a gorgeous dreamy track, but they turned it more into a crashing hype song. It is still a nice track though, but it was a total bait.

Love Dive by IVE

The 'narcissistic' bit is fun and made it big on social media, but if you listen to the whole song, you would agree that the verses are more interesting than the chorus.

BTS RUN by BTS

I might need a bulletproof vest for sharing this opinion, but one fan commented that, although the song is enjoyable and captivating, the repetitive chorus loses its charm quickly compared to the more engaging verses.

TIC TAC by 8TURN

This song is totally underrated, but it's such a good and catchy song. Not that the chorus is terrible, but the “tastes so yummy” line is too good; you can never get past it.

Are they kidding? Isn't it normal for the verses to be better than a repetitive chorus??
