Following the success of 'The Match,' Yoo Ah In’s next film 'Hi.5' is finally set for release, but the actor is noticeably absent from its first teaser trailer.
On April 28, distributor NEW released the first official teaser for 'Hi.5,' a quirky action comedy about five strangers who develop superpowers after receiving organ transplants from a mysterious donor. The trailer opens with Wan Seo (Lee Jae In), a taekwondo athlete, leaping into the air in a dramatic display of her newfound ability.
As the story unfolds, each transplant recipient — Ji Seong (Ahn Jae Hong), Seonnyeo (Ra Mi Ran), Yakseon (Kim Hee Won), Gidong (Yoo Ah In), and Wan Seo — discovers their unique powers.
“You know you can donate six organs, right?” says Ji Seong. “Heart, lungs, cornea, kidneys, liver, pancreas. That means there are four others like us.” Their powers are tied to the organs they received, such as enhanced lung capacity, super strength, and even beauty enhancement. Together, they decide to team up, although clashing personalities and chaotic powers make teamwork anything but easy.

Meanwhile, Yeongchun (Park Jinyoung), a cult leader who received a pancreas transplant, sets out to find the others, determined to become the ultimate being.
'Hi.5' is directed by Kang Hyeong Cheol, best known for 'Scandal Makers,' 'Sunny,' and 'Swing Kids.' Filmed in 2021 with a budget of 15 billion KRW (about $10.95 million), the film’s release was delayed due to the pandemic and, more significantly, due to Yoo Ah In’s drug scandal in 2023.
Yoo was sentenced to one year in prison and a 2 million KRW (about $1,407) fine in his first trial. His sentence was later reduced to a suspended one-year term, but the case still awaits a final decision from the Supreme Court.
Despite the controversy, 'The Match,' released earlier this year, attracted over 2 million viewers and ranked third in Korea’s 2025 box office. Interestingly, that film minimized Yoo’s presence in its promotional materials. In contrast, 'Hi.5' includes Yoo in its posters, although he does not appear in the teaser. While parts of his character are visible, his face is carefully avoided.
Yoo is also not listed among the cast members expected to appear at the film’s press conference in May, leaving fans wondering whether he will return to the public spotlight for promotional activities.
'Hi.5' is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3.
