The release of Jimin's first solo album 'FACE' is now just a day away, and his pre-release single 'Set Me Free Pt.2' from the album has already set a high momentum for the expected performance of this very highly anticipated album. The single has written history all across the globe on various major music charts and music consumption platforms like Melon and iTunes [read here], Spotify [read here], and Oricon charts [read here].
From these results, it can be seen how Jimin has completely dominated all the key and top-most music markets globally as outlined by IFPI, including the USA, UK, Japan, France, Brazil, South Korea, and more, through streaming and song purchases.
Looking at the UK, aside from registering the biggest debut by a Korean Soloist in the history of Spotify UK with 'Set Me Free Pt.2', Jimin is also making waves on other official charts in the country that is considered the 3rd largest music market globally.
'Set Me Free Pt.2' ranked 4th on the UK Official Big Top 40 chart as per the results released on March 19, just 2 days after the song's release. Jimin, therefore, became the highest-ranking individual K-pop idol in the history of this chart!
It is the third time Jimin has entered this chart, and it is his highest entry yet. Only 2 Korean soloists have ranked on this chart this decade, and Jimin happens to have ranked the highest at #4.
In addition, the only other Korean artists to rank on this chart include his own group BTS at #1 and PSY at #1 as well, which was back in 2012, over a decade ago! Therefore, he is the second-highest charting Korean act overall on this chart in its entire history.
The excitement for the full album is evident from the explosive response to the pre-release track worldwide, especially seeing how well the song has performed in the world's biggest music markets.
Congratulations, King! 💜👑
