Nikkei Entertainment has revealed the most popular K-pop groups in Japan through its 2021 'Talent Power Ranking'.
Of the K-pop groups who made the list, it was none other than JYP Entertainment girl group TWICE who ranked in at #1. TWICE are the first Korean girl group to hold a Japanese dome tour, and according to Nikkei Entertainment, 38% of the Japanese citizens surveyed recognized them. Out of the 38%, 68.5% also had interest in TWICE as fans.
In 2nd place is Big Hit Music group BTS, who were recognized by 29.5% of the Japanese public. Out of the 29.5%, 68.5% had an interest in the group. In 3rd place is 'Produce 48' project group IZ*ONE with recognition from 14.5% of the public and 78.5% interest from those who recognized them. In 4th is Seventeen with 12% recognition and 82.5% interest, and in 5th is EXO with 10% recognition and 72.5% interest.
JYP Entertainment group NiziU, who've only released music in Japanese, was also on the list with 48% recognition and 70.5% interest.
