On February 22, the agency made a notice on their official homepage. The statement informed fans that they have been collecting data since December 8, 2017, and have officially started taking legal action against those who have defamed, insulted, and violated the character and privacy of their artists

SM also informed they have received many reports from fans and the process can take a long time. The agency asked for understanding on their inability to reveal every specific detail on the legal process.
Lastly, it stated, "We plan to continue monitoring and taking legal action to protect our artists. Therefore, we ask the fans to continue giving attention and reports."
