A cab driver is being praised as a hero for rescuing an elderly man from having his entire life savings stolen by a voice-phishing con-artist.
According to the victim's account, the cab driver was driving the grandpa to his destination.
However, the cab driver became suspicious after overhearing the elderly passenger's phone conversation. When the driver became convinced that the grandpa was about to become a victim of voice-phishing, he drove the cab straight to the nearest police station.
When the cops asked the elderly gentleman what the phone conversation was about, the grandpa answered, "I got a phone call saying that my personal security has been breached and that I should take out all my money from the bank."
The shopping bag the elderly man was clutching onto had over 200 million KRW (approximately $200,000 USD) in cash.
The cab driver left the police station without revealing his identity, and the police and the grandpa are looking for the hero to express their appreciation for saving the grandpa from becoming a victim.
