Actress Shin Se Kyung has been appointed an honorary ambassador of UNESCO's (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) Korean committee.
On January 15, she attended the special 60th anniversary appointment ceremony to become an honorary ambassador. She will take part in UNESCO activities in Korea, such as the UNESCO Bridge Program, and also support education in the developing world.

In relation to representing the United Nations agency, Shin Se Kyung stated, "I deeply sympathize with UNESCO's mindset to nurture peace in people's hearts. I will diligently provide strength equal to the weight on my shoulders that comes with being a special honorary ambassador. I am greatly interested in the crusade against illiteracy. Reading and writing are the greatest pleasures in my life. I want to share these with a lot of people."
